Breakfast on Saturdays (Discover Your Path)
These are my pieces included on my Spring 2021 body of work. Each piece was crafted, trimmed, glazed by myself. I decided to correspond my pieces by half dipping 3 of the pieces in "Oasis" and white. One of my shallow bowls is all white. I chose these colors because it reminds me of the beach. The white as the white sand, and the blue as the crisp, cool water. These pieces are meant to be used for prepping meals, snacks, and pastries. I am excited to use these dishes for breakfast on Saturdays, specifically at the bay.
1 .. 2 ... 15,000 (Your Voice Matters)
This is my Your Voice Matters project. I created a small hand built bowl to hold some rings on my desk. My cause is children's diabetes and the reason I chose this cause is because it has/had an impact on someone close to me: my mother. My mom was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes when she was sixteen. Although that isn't super young, I wanted to draw attention to the subject of kids who are diagnosed even at the early age of 5. This defiantly is not my best work, and if I tried again I think I would have very many improvements. But for now, i am happy with my project, solely because of the message.
It's Chilly Tonight (Dish For Your Dish)
This is my Dish For Your Dish (small) body of work. I created two pieces for one of my favorite foods: my dad's chili. He combines tomatoes, mirepoix, beans, beef, and other good spices to create warming, homey, and delicious flavors, perfect for a cold winter night. I probably should have made my bowl much larger considering how much of the chili I will eat.... I also made a little dish for my hefty slice of homemade cornbread (my grandmas recipe), a perfect pair. Anyways, I think the glaze colors really make these pieces go together well, just like the chili and cornbread.
